funny but not a laughing matter

last week, we were busy preparing for the "exposure trip" in fort santiago. since the theme of the trip is FilipiƱiana, we decided to pray the rosary (as we always do during our trips) in Filipino. we board the bus and settle down, we started the prayer while holding our prayer guide since none of us were used in praying the rosary in Filipino. as we start, it is very obvious that we were not ready to do this  for our tongues  get twisted in most of the  "deep" Filipino words found in the prayer.

then, the bloopers starts.

first blooper:
while praying the Lord's prayer
...bigyan mo po kami ngayon ng aming kakanin sa araw-araw at iligtas mo po kami sa apoy ng impyerno...
(give us this day our daily bread and save us from the fires of hell)
confusion between the Lord's prayer and Fatima ejaculation

second blooper
while praying the Hail Mary, the prayer leader's mobile phone rang with this funny ring tone heard all over the bus  because of the microphone

third blooper
since the prayer leader have not memorized the Hail Holy Queen in Filipino, he is just reading it in the prayer book. however the bus passed by a tunnel/underpass. there was complete darkness and the prayer was stopped for about half a minute.

since the prayer leaders were naturally "mababaw" and would easily laugh on on these odd incidents, the "should be" solemn  and formal prayer was changed to hilarious moments filled with giggles and "controlled" laughter.

funny but not and should not be a laughing matter. "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak". the prayer leader asked forgiveness for this untoward incident. however, on a lighter note, the prayer leader thank Him for the gift of Laughter. after the prayer, we feel refreshed since he have not laughed that hard for a long time.there's a good side in every unpleasant event!
