UPPT's "FAKE"

due to the nature of my job, i occasionally have chances to watch plays/theatrical presentations for free. the latest that i have seen is UP Playwright's Theater "Fake". having not much of a "critical eye",  i find the play awesome, outstanding, two thumbs up and outstanding. in short, it's GREAT!

first, the VENUE. i was actually shocked at teatro hermogenes ylagan.  having our own school auditorium and watching plays in places like meralco theater, i never thought that the venue would be "quite" small. it's like entering a classroom and being a judge in one of our school's "classroom-based activities". but, yes it's true. it's small but it's more intimate. you don't always get to watch a play where actors are within your reach (though audience should not touch them :-) ) and you can really see and feel their acting. as if your part of the play. seeing "siste emily" and "jose marco" lament in front of us, it's like you want to go on stage and comfort them. :) with that, two thumbs up for teatro ylagan.

second, the ACTORS. i watched Fake where leo rialp played as "jose marco", ces quesada as as "concepcion" and brian tibayan as "miguel". i can say that leo rialp really gives justice to the role. it's like he is really "bagay" for the role.  ces quesada is great. brian tibayan is "ok" (for me, he delivers his lines too fast. i wonder how gerard pizarras will give justice to the role.) having majority of the cast considered as "seasoned actors", surely we get a "de-kalidad" presentation.

third, the AUDIENCE.  the audience were mostly teeners. they were appreciative and well-behave. perhaps most of them are UP students or theater majors, they know proper theater decorum. loud applause was given to ross pesigan (who became an instant heartthrob) and leo rialp during the curtain call.

now, i'm looking forward for their next project. "Rizal X", i think.

goodbye Friendster!!!

perhaps one of the most visited website in the early 2000 is friendster.com . i heard that friendster (fs) will going to have a "make-over". it will no longer be the usual social networking site we once knew. upon hearing this, i immediately open my fs account once more (a thing that i no longer do since the era of facebook (fb) emerge). i looked at my profile, my photos (most of them i already transferred to fb) and the thing that i consider precious  in fs are the testimonials i received. perhaps that's the difference between fs and fb. in fb, you can post everything and anything. some or most of them are not even your concerns. you post something and comments will roll-out just like thread discussions (sometimes its already out of the topic). but in fs, testi is very different. it's like a dedication page of a slumbook. and reading the testi pages of my fs brings back old memories and even people that were somehow "forgotten" (due to lack of communication). so here are some of my testi from the "baul" of friendster.
